Join us and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture for a special virtual art workshop.
In this workshop, you will learn how to create your own polymer clay trinket dish inspired by the iconic iron lattice work on the outside of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Learn about the museum’s architecture while forming your own trinket dish using colors and patterns inspired by the ironwork.
Thanks to the generosity of the Smithsonian, your ticket is just $20. Normally this class would cost $65 per ticket. Your ticket includes the cost of all materials needed for the activity, hands-on instruction, and a presentation by an NMAAHC educator. Materials kits will be shipped to participants in advance of the program. Participants must register by September 7th (one week in advance) to ensure materials arrive on time.
Materials kit includes:
Polymer clay
Acrylic roller
Craft knife
Depth guides
Tissue blade
Wet/dry sandpaper
Super glue
Bowl mold
Participants will need to provide parchment paper, a cookie sheet, and a home oven to finish their dish.
